Okay, one of two situations exist.
1. She is shy to talk in person or;
2. She doesn't want anybody to know that she is talking to you.
If it is 1, then see if you can get her to be less shy. Arrange to meet her when the two of you don't have a lot of people around you both know, like the mall.
If it is 2, then drop her as soon as you can. She is not worth the effort.
You need to decide, then go forward.

forget about your palls,
how did you get to know your palls at school?
you probably had to make the first move?
talk to her outwith the circle of your mates,
she sounds as though she's after new palls,
and if you hang about with a big team then that'll just seem intimidatting to her,
introduce her to your mates slowly,
don't throw her to the pack dip her toes in slowly.
could be the start of a great friendship for all.
give it a try,
whats to loose?

God you are the boy, its your friends that you are both worried about. The ball is most certainly in your court!!
She is probably thinking why won't he talk to me in real life?
Why do you care about what your friends think anyway? just talk to her, your friends don't need to know why you are talking to her
