It is always difficult to know for sure who is telling the truth but it seems plausible.
Celibacy was first innovated by the catholic church so that the priests would not have decendants to inherit their property so that it would all go to the church. I think celibacy is not natural and not part of the "christian" faith.
I think it leads to frustration and the priests would naturally turn to the easiest way to relieve their frustration if they are weak (as we all are).
I'm sure there are bad "priests" in all religions.
Islam does not condone a hierachy of priests (except for the shias who are about 10%). Worship is supposed to be direct without any intermediary and there are no equivalant of monks or nuns as every healthy muslim is supposed to marry if possible and participate fully in society. An "Imam" is just the leader of the ritual prayers and can be anyone (doctor, engineer etc).

I saw bits of the show. Chilled me to the bone.
I suspect that there's a campaign to Clinton the current Pope. It's as if his every word, his every movement, seems to be causing a stir and an outrage - and I think this is deliberately so.
I wondered if it was fair to treat this Pope in this way, considering he's only just come on the heels of the last one, and hadn't had time to find his feet yet.
But then I saw this program, and its allegation that the Pope had the chance to come clean about the Vatican's "Paedo Shuffle" policy document - the one he kept quiet while he was Cardinal Ratburger - but didn't, and I found myself thinking "Why did I ever think it unfair? I hope someone kicks him out before the end of this year!"
I'd like to see his successor stand on the St Peter's balcony, offending policy document in hand, and say "The last Pope was not infallible, and did not speak for God. This document, his policy, has been rescinded, burned. There will be sackings. We are going to need around 150,000 new priests. Paedophiles need not apply."
I'd like to see that, but since that's hardly likely to happen, it's no wonder I became a Pagan a long time ago, and happy I am to have made the move.

I didn't see the program, but the BBC has been sent a protest from the Vatican, accusing the program of being unbalanced, and unfairly biased.
Knowing that the BBC has a track record of producing programs that have been claimed to be unfairly biased, I think everyone should reserve judgement on the matter, until the Church has been given the opportunity to give a proper response.

I expect it happens in all religions just the same because it is a major human failing.
I am disappointed that the Vatican or their reps do not come out and tell the people they have sinned and how many have sinned. Because until they do the GENUINE priest, rabbi etc will have always have some suspicions cast on them when they are with young people.
I think it is important to remember that there are a lot of good men and women ministers in all religions and we should be grateful for them

BBC is a very anti Catholic organization. In Britain, the Catholic citizens are denied the opportunity to run for the political office of prime minister by the English Constitution.
So, English bigotry is alive, well an institutionalized within its society. The BBC is no exception to this institutional bigotry.
When the English open their society on all levels to all their citizens regardless of religious affiliation, then I would be shocked.
For now, realize intolerant slander when you see it.

I saw it and I was horrified too, I think it's awful that it should be all covered over, the church should always stand for the truth, no matter what, if we don't then the church will be brought into disrepute and no christian would be able to hold up their heads and witness for Christ, I think that there should be a thorough investigation and all those who are involved brought to justice, removed from the preisthood, named and shamed, and put on the offenders register.

Can't say for sure, but imagine that in all faiths there is a certain amount of info doctoring and secrets. They are certainly not going to bite the hands that feed them are they? I mean how much capital do you think the major religions have?Mind you perhaps it wouldn't be a bad thing. Less people would die senselesly for one thing

How can you be shocked?
This is like common knowledge and has been going on for years.
Yes theres a cover up, the Catholic church close ranks and those priests accused are moved all over the world to hide them, thats why they are rarely caught.
Believe me, this is way more prevalent than you could imagine.
