My last GF has told me, and other friends since, I have a great personality and what-not and that I'll find that special someone waiting just around the corner sooner or later. Problem is the more corners you turn, the more you start to wonder if that's just living a pipe dream. It would be lovely to find someone to spend time with and share some TLC with but I'm not holding my breath. :)
As for why we fall in love, it's a kind of instinct, isn't it? All about procreation at the end of the day I suppose - in its basic sense of course. For me it's finding someone who shares the same things that you do and who enjoys your company as much as you do theirs and who misses you when you're not there and who feels full of excitement when you are. Problem sometimes is knowing when it's true love and when it's just lust or infatuation. :)

It is important to realize that no everyone is destined for a relationship, marriage and children. But love is something that one can find around them everyday. One can find love with family and friends that can be more fulfilling that a relationship with stress and hardships. People do fall in love! But will everyone find someone; unlikely everyone will find an intimate, meaningful lover. I know the most important thing someone can do is be comfortable with themselves. People see that, and that makes everyone more attractive. I do not believe there is ONE person out there for everyone, just people you happen to meet, click and commit to. Since one is not being intimate with everyone (hopefully) then one could never truly know how many other people there could be for you!

No - is the answer. Love would be a lot less complicated if we didn't want what we idealised. Modern society has placed such ridiculous expectations on who we would like to be with. It would be easier to be fit and sexy and to f*** once in a while.
