Well first, check your BMI. A BMI means Body Mass Index, and it tells you if your weight is healthy for a girl your height. You can look this up on the internet or ask your health teacher about it. They usually have a chart on hand. If you aren't in your correct weight, then here are some tips. One of my friends lost thirty pounds over the summer, and she told me everything, so it's coming from someone in your situation.
1. Eat healthy and cut down on snacking. Sometimes hunger can be mistaken for thirst. When you get hungry, you can either a. drink a glass of milk or water (NOT pop!) and wait fifteen minutes to see if your still hungry, or B. With every moment you say "I'm hungry" in your head, wait ten or fifteen minutes. Hunger pangs sometimes only last a few minutes, and they can occur even when you're not hungry. If you need to snack, don't pull out the cookies or chips. Eat some really good fruit or veggies, or buy some Kelloggs Special K bars at your local grocery store. I swear by those, they are great tasting and only 90 calories! Also, dont eat in large quantities. If you need to snack, you only need about one apple, or a couple celery sticks. When at dinner, the amount of meat your body needs PER SERVING is the size of your fist! No wonder America's getting so big, we're all eating full T-bone steaks when we only need a fist full.
2. Drink water. A lot of it! My friend said she drank 6-8 glasses a day, and not only did it help her lose weight, but she had more energy. If you're thinking waters too "blah", try some Propel (Gatorade Fitness Water, it comes in soooo many yummy flavors, but is still water), or Glaceau Vitamin Water (each color has a different purpose, like pink is to help you focus, and yellow for energy!). Just keep yourself hydrated, and if you love soda, stick to one can a day. Oh, and an FYI, diet sodas are not as good for you as you think. If you drink too much, your body will get used to the "fake sugar", and it will start freaking out. It's okay to have one every once in a while, but dont think that it's okay to have two or three diet pops a day just because it doesn't have any sugar or calories. Stick to the water.
3. Get active. You dont need to get a gym membership to lose weight. If your pretty big, and have a hard time running or doing intense workouts, then try taking a 2 or 3 mile walk a day with your mom or your pet. You are going to need two things in your excersize plan: One half is the strength and flexibility part, and the other is heart rate and aerobic part. For the first part, try buying a cheap yoga or pilates guide video. I know it sounds cheesy, but if you stick to it 3 to 5 days a week, it works. Even if your in between classes at school, take a few seconds to strech. And for the second part, you need to get your heart rate going! This means that you need to do activites that make your heart go faster. This part I love, because you dont need to stay home to do this. Join a club, like a local soccer team, basketball team, softball team, anything that requires movement! This can help you get the aerobic (fast movement that raises your heart rate) workout in often and you can make new friends. You can also ride your bike for a couple miles, and to make things seem less intense, reward yourself with a fruit n yogurt parfait from McDonalds or some low-fat ice cream when you reach your destination.
4. Believe that you can do it. No one can achieve such a goal as losing weight without knowing they can do it. Dont ever give up.
Good luck, and make sure you talk to your parents about this too so they can help keep you on track.

When I was about your age, I was kind of fat too. I think it was baby fat. I started running over the summer and ate fruits and vegetables and I didn't eat really fattening foods all the time, but I would have Mcdonalds sometimes.
I did that for over the summer and it worked. All my fat went to me boobs and butt and the rest of me was skinny.
Im almost 16 now and I have been the same weight since I was 13. I am 104 but when I was 12 I was about 120.
You will probably grow out of it if you are not that much overweight.
If you are really overweight you should try going to a doctor or something and they can help you with a diet plan and exercise.
Remember: You are beautiful anyways and no one should make you change.
I hope everything works out :)

No do not starve yourself, that is called anorexic. The best way to lost weight is to EAT HEALTHY FOODS, and EXERCISE. Lets start with healthy foods. Maintaining a good balanced diet is very hard. You should start off with a good breakfast and a healthy breakfast like oatmeal, add fruits if you like. Avoid eating food with much fat in it. Eating some salads for lunch is great too. Eating maybe subway is also good. There food is also healthy. Avoid eating chips, cookies, cheese, and other fat foods. For dinner, you can eat maybe something healthy like food with vegetables. Do not eat food with a lot of grease. Avoid eating ice cream.
Now if you tend to eat a lot of fatting foods, then EXERCISE a lot. For example, run outside, jog, hang out with your friends, jump rope, go to the gym, run the treadmill. There are many ways to exercise. Just remember that the most important is that the food you eat, depends on your weight. Keeping a in shape is also good too. Signing up for gyms/ training is also good. Getting involved in activities like soccer, tennis, basketball are great too.
Good Luck! Do not go ANOREXiC!!

Some of it might have to do with your genes but a lot of it has to do with what you eat and if you get any physical activity. Talk to a nutritionist or if your insurance doesn't cover that, stay away from fast foods. Eat chicken (not fried) veggies, fruit, fish. Instead of ice cream or chips for dessert have carrots or yogurt. It's not easy, but if you want it enough you can achieve it. Make sure you get exercise. This doesn't have to be something you hate. Go roller blading, walking, swimming, dance... anything that gets you moving. Good luck and remember to always love yourself!
