If you are under severe stress and you don't seek professional help the brain has it own natural mechanism to shut down so that you don't have a total nervous breakdown.

Now if you are a drug user, you are frying all your brain cells like an egg in a frying pan. (The brain does not repair or replace destroyed brain cells). The more brain cells you loose the greater the degree you have to use what little brain you will have left.

Seek professional help for your stress. Legal drugs are not the answer to stress if that is your true problem. Drugs only mask the root cause of your problems.

After all kinds of treatments, like behavior modification, bio-feedback, stress management classes, yoga etc, etc, fail, then perhaps you will require an Rx to give you a quality life.

Yes, and it happens because you can't relax enough to let your brain search for the answer. You're also busy thinking things like, "Where is that, it was just here, I'm going to be late, I'm going to loose my job...ETC." If you just stop yourself, take a deep breath and let everything go, the answer will come up much faster.
I've also read that if you don't get enough sleep, you can't remember nouns (words for things) as well. Happens to me.

Yes I know exactly what you are talking about, my excuse is because i was in a car wreck and injured my brain. I think this happens though because you get so frazzled about things or over stimulated. But then again what do I know, I'm not a doctor.

I ALWAYS have that problem, not only when especially stressed, but it's due to ADHD - if it's only when you're stressed you may have anger or anxiety issues.

There is an old term, "Take a deep breath". It means calm down and rationalize, your thought process will be clearer.
