If I were to create a religion, with these type of doctrines, I should expect mind-numbing oppression and subjigation of woman. Stuff like:
* The right to murder a woman that an insecure man thinks might be "dishonorable".
* Rape as a punishment by the state, for the acts of the man, upon an innocent female family member.
* Stoning woman for sport.
* Woman reduced to chattel (property), covered like furniture and purchased under profitable arrangements (arranged marriage).

The reasoning behind what the Prophet(saws) said was that women can basically turn men to putty in their hands among other things. :) Women have much power over men because men think very "physically" while a woman is more of an emotional human being. Women are a great affliction to men. Just makes sense.
