a company I have never heard of with a company called National Arbitration Forum. Never received a notice to appear, but had received something months ago from this company saying they were going to take action. I tried calling them, but couldn't get a live person. I thought it was a scam, because the voice mail wanted my phone number & social security number, which I was reluctant to give without knowing what is was about. The amount was for considerably less than is now showing on the award letter, also, they state I agreed in January to have it arbitrated, which I NEVER did. Heck, I don't even know what this about. Can anyone help me? The letter is dated August 23 2006, but I just recieved it. The company information gives a phone number, again, no live person to talk to, they want your phone number to call you back, which I don't want to give, without more info. Anybody know whats going on & what I should do? I own my own home, have no job, no credit & can't pay this.HELP

If you're concerned, write a letter asking them for more information. DO NOT include your social security number.

Contact an attorney for advice. Most will give you a free consult. If you have NEVER had any credit cards or loans, then I would assume it's a scam. If it is a court issue, the presiding court would be listed on the letter. If there is not another way to identify them, I wouldn't worry about it. You could google the company as well and see what it says. You may find all the answers you need. Good luck.

Sounds like a normal scam. Report them - start by right clicking on the email and then on properties, find out all you can. Usually everyone gets the "please help me email from nigeria, in the amount of 10 million dollars. Spammers are always trying to be creative. From time to time I even get this type of email.

They probably all ready have your phone number unless you have call blocking.

If it would put your mind at ease, copy the email and take it your local police station and give it to their commercial crime division.

Any legal issues would have to be delivered to you by way of postal registered mail "NOT email". Courts do not normally issue financial awards without first sending you a summons to appear so you can state your case. Even if I did get a registered letter in the mail I would make a few phone calls first.

DO NOT THROW AWAY THE ENVELOPE THAT IT CAME IN!!

It sounds like they sent it late on purpose so it would seem as though you have had the letter for 30 days or more. Make sure you dig that envelope out of the trash if you have to. It has the post mark on it. I would make at least 2 copies of the letter and the envelope for future reference. Whatever you do, do not let go of the original letter and postmarked envelope.

It is a scare tactic and deceitful practice. I would write them back demanding validation of this debt. Do NOT give them any personal info about yourself, even if they demand it. Tell them that you don't deal with 3rd party collectors.

Validation of a debt requires a copy of the original signed contract for the alleged debt, as well as a detailed accounting of the alleged debt; including payments made, interest charged, fees charged, etc. If they do not provide this information to you, then they must BY FEDERAL LAW discontinue reporting it to all credit bureaus. They have to delete it from your report if they cannot validate it.

Don't talk to them on the phone; only by certified mail.

It definitely sounds like a scam.... What I would do is pull your credit reports-- all three bureaus-- and see if anything related to them is on there.

If it IS on there, add a consumer comment to your report detailing it, and then launch disputes and follow up with the company to get it figured out.

Scam. Never give any info over the phone. That's a good way to get your identity stolen.

i like your record. some i opt for to respond to because i imagine they are no longer examples of double commonplace as such: proper, for me, the lavatory-seat component would not count in any respect. it really is distinctly effortless to placed a lid down your self. yet imagine about it: the bathing room is possibly going for use better cases with the seat up than down, because adult adult males sit right down to take a promote off, as do females - females also sit right down to pee. in case you assume adult adult males and females use lavatories both, better cases than no longer, the seat is down, so it really is better accessible to go away it down. females gown that way no longer inevitably to get adult adult males to stare at them. extremely some it really is what's expected of them. a woman isn't considered 'sensible' till she has makeup on. She outfits better to mission and image than adult adult males do, usually. it really is not any longer continually about being appealing to adult adult males - dressing that way also intersects with self belief. i imagine there is extremely some imbalance about abuse: we usually see adult adult males because the only perpetrators of sexual abuse to minors, yet females do this too. in spite of the indisputable fact that, the actual, psychological, and emotional abuse is basically from moms to their toddlers, regularly because the moms are those better regularly searching after the youngsters, so the occurrence is better probable. What the legislators are merchandising has no longer some thing to do with their gender. we settle on females to have equivalent probability to be legislators no count what they recommend. if reality learn only that women are not getting equivalent danger to adult adult males contained in the container, and that desires to get replaced. if reality learn that maximum JOBS are carried out by skill of adult adult males, only because females have a tendency to stay at living house and safeguard youthful ones. also, that "adult adult males have invented ninety% of each little thing" is clearly because adult adult males have traditionally been knowledgeable at the same time as females have not, so extremely it really is an difficulty for females's rights. better or a lot less, some thing I accept as true with yet i imagine you could undergo in recommendations the double criteria for adult adult males and females, which typically artwork conversely and characteristic quite some reward and downsides. i'd verify some files, too - a pair are somewhat previous.
