Yep never gonna happen. Mankind lives by a tribal system each tribe with their own set of beliefs. Yo can see it on a small scale in school. With your own group of friends you end up listening to the same music hanging round with the same crowd. You also see it with the countries American and British allegiance and te Middle Eastern confilict. the whole cold war thing. We fear those who are diferent and so shun then them. If we could learn to live without fear of the new then maybe people could get along but I doubt. Everyone hates someone.

It would be wonderful to think so but it is a fantasy. I cant see how all these people in the uk believe everyone from all different races can live together in harmony. I have travelled extensivley for many years and love experiencing other cultures. But you can see why they are there and we are here. But when different cultures are thrown together e.g israel and palestine it ends in a lot of tears. And more recently the 7th of july 2005. The people who commited those acts were apparently from england, but felt their allegencies lie elsewhere.

I used to think that it was possible, but after 9/11 happened many western people became afraid and distrustful of Muslims.

I guess you cant really blame them, after all people don't want to be afraid do they, its not a conscious decision, its just a reaction to the environment of terror that now exists around us, no one wakes up and says; "OK, from today I have decided to be afraid" do they.

Unfortunately this fear breeds resentment from the majority of Muslims who are not terrorists and leads to further animosity as is so often evident when reading some of the questions and answers posted on this site.

This is exactly what Bin Laden wanted I guess, but unfortunately for him his plan backfired, in trying to fight for the Muslim cause he has simply made things worse for the peacefull majority of Muslims. I am unsure if its possible to go back now, and everyone suffers as a result.

Nice one Bin you *anker!!

It is impossible. Almost all of America now hates Mexicans and Muslims as the obvious without getting into the fears of gang life, homophobia, inequality to women, cultural differences, religous hypcrocities, political differences, race relations and on and on.

Everyone knows that this "harmony" is a necessity. Islam, Muslims
Catholics, Protestants, the whole lot know. What we are needing
for this to happen is a charismatic leader, one for each belief who
will respect one another, and then, there will be no place for an
Osama to hide. I sincerely believe this will happen, perhaps not
not in my lifetime, but within the next two decades.

I think harmony is possible but unlikely.People fear what they don't know. Everyone is hating on everyone else, because they don't stop and think about the fact that there is a person behind that skin color and ideaology.

To say "I think this culture and this culture is okay; and this religion and this religion is okay, but those other people are crazy" is not being accepting, it's being selective.

There are fanatics in many religions- christians that bomb abortion clinics and muslim suicide bombers are one in the same.

I think it already is a reality in many parts of Britain so obviously not. Of course it isn't helped by the media and the government stirring up antagonism towards minority groups just to score easy political points and try and keep people seperated and suspicious of each other rather than those in power but hey, divide and rule has always been with us sadly.

I think so, minority groups can happily co-exist with a dominant culture, but when the group gets beyond a certain size or power to the point where they challenge the dominant cultures mores then usually there is conflict.

There will never be multicultural harmony while the leaders of Islam are intent on taking over the world.

Of course it is. Human beings just love to fight.

As for religious mistrust, look at sectarian killings in N. Ireland, Arabs slaughtering black people in Darfur and just about everyone was at it in what was Yugoslavia and now Iraq.

Its a nice fantasy but still a fantasy.
