Who cleans up after a gruesome crime scene, or area where someone has died? After the CSIs have done their job and the coroner has come and gone, who is left in charge of cleaning the scene, whether it be a home or highway. I have heard about the use of Pepsi on highways to remove the blood and carnage, is it true?

Ok, thanks guys, I am well-informed now. I'm a big fan of the famous Dr. Baden and the HBO Autopsy series, Dirty Jobs, and The First 48 on A&E. There are a lot of very sad, tragic occurences, just wondered who all is involved in making life resume a small bit of normalcy.

They call in a special cleaning crew, all they do is crime scence stuff. Most are the 'on call" type of jobs, like if they get a call in the middle of the night cause there was a murder, they gotta get up and go clean it up. I bet they get paid good!

Just yesterday I was driving on the highway and passed a truck that said "Crime Clean-up: Murder, Suicide, Accidental Death, 24/7 Emergency Service". So, i guess that is who cleans up!

They're called coroners. It's the job title of a sheriff officer when they are called on to a fatality. I have a friend who is an officer. He says it's the worst part of the job, especially when woman and children are involved.

There are crews whose job it is to clean up a crime scene. I saw a short by Quentin T. once about one of these crews. (Of course it was gruesome) lol

There are companies that specialize in biological and crime scene cleanup. They get contracts with municipalities to perform this service.

Gross, the guy on Dirty Jobs needs to try this one! They had one show where he helped the guys that clean up the roadkill. It was disgusting. I couldn't do it.
