the only experience I have had with a "Pitbull" was relatively positive. I was very nervous when my dad got this dog, but he (the dog) proved himself to be a wonderful pet. He was gentle and loving, never showed any signs of aggression or violence. He was my father's faithful companion until the end and for that I will always remember "Murphy" fondly.
Would I personally ever have a pit? Probably not, the stigma they all have to over come is enormous. We have three dogs, our next door neighbors kids are afraid of dogs. Our golden retriever (yes, I said golden retriever) scares the he** out of them. I couldn't imagine what would happen if they saw a pitbull in our yard!

I have one now ,and have had 2 others in the past. I really like the breed. My dogs and other Pits I've known have been great dogs. It saddens me that so many believe the media crap about them. They are a powerful dog no doubt, and untrained or trained for the wrong purpose can be a problem. But I'm at a loss as to how the misdeeds of irresponsible or saddistic humans should reflect on the breed.I love pits.

I owned two Staffordshire , and they were two of the best dog's I ever owned.
They are great with children and love to play. These dog's are VERY gentle.
PEOPLE give the animal's a bad name. You can make any animal mean, it's how you treat them.

I don't know. Its hard to say. Sometimes it is mostly because of how the owner trains the dog but there will always be a small portion that is genetically hardwired. If that portion grows, dog is uncontrollable even if owner meant good so its always up to individual dogs and owners.

personally i love them i would not have any other breed of dog they are extremely loyal and less likely to bite a human than even a lab! not all pits are mean and they should not be stereotyped i have a brown brindle pit and he is the sweetest thing in the world im not gonna say anything like "he wouldnt hurt a fly" because he would hurt a fly he would eat it but when it comes to people the worst that he would hurt you is with his nails when he jumps on you to get you to pet his head he really is harmless when it comes to humans

Pitbulls, sweet, loving energetic dogs! You may have heard some horrible stories on them, about fighting and attacking people, which does happen all the time unfortuantley! It's NOT the dog's fault for misconduct.I have five of them all sooo sweet!
They don't attack people, the people train them too.

Great dogs for the right owner. Someone who is willing to train with them and willing to put time and effort into their training so they can be model dogs.
I think they are beautiful animals and very smart dogs.

I think that if trained right any dog can be good, but I don't think that you should have them in the cities. Where people live so close to you. They are very protective and will attack if they feel threatened.
