I got a ticket near Albany. 62 in a 45 work zone on the thruway. I was in the process of slowing down, but I guess I didnt do it fast enough. I plead not guilty and sent a "nice" letter like the officer told me to do. Now, I have a court date instead. I really dont feel like driving to Albany again. In fact, I cant, because I work full time and I dont think I can make it.

So, has anyone just bent over and taken it you know where? What were the damages? I just switced insurance, so maybe it wont show up until they renew? Thanks.

The one time I got A ticket on 17 in Monroe 80 in a 55. Did what the officer said and got away with parking on the right of way.

I know it doesn't help, But as I always was told never ask for a report or not show up it only irretates the itch. It might help with a lawyer if you can find one cheap(especially in albany). Dress right and and politely. do not give them areason to doubt you and if you deside to show up be early and you will have one more try to talk to the officer .

Good luck

Get a lawyer in Albany. With a bit of luck, he or she can plead it down to a lesser violation with no points -- say defective equipment for a bad speedometer -- with an offer of a higher than normal fine to make it worth the state's while to accept the offer.

I beat a similar one by exchanging the usual $350.00 fine for a $500.00 one for defective equipment through the lawyer, who cost me $300.00. I'd have paid more than $800.00 a year in increased insurance costs for at least 3 years so it actually turned out to be a bargain. And I didn't have to go to court, so it saved a day's lost wages and a 200 mile trip.

People like to bad-mouth lawyers -- sometimes justifiably so -- but in this situation a good lawyer IS an asset!

if you find out what the normal rates are... multiply it by 2.

In most states.. the fines are doubled in construction zones.
