What can we do to deter her from ruining the furniture and wallpaper!
We have tried shouting at her, squirting her with water, putting tinfoil over the chairs and stuff, ignoring her, we have a very sutible scratching post thats she does use aswell as the wallpaper etc, we also have other things for her to scratch which she also uses, she has plenty of toys for her to play with, and she goes out often (but only on a leash, as we live VERY close to a busy main road, we dont want her to get run over!) and we play with her too, but she just walks away after a while.
Please help what can we do!!!! Shes scratching us out of house and home!

Its no good just putting toys and a scratching post out for her and expecting her to just know what to do. Take a bit of time to play with her, making her run around on the floor for a while and then using the scratching post as part of the fun, making sure you give her loads of praise and fuss when she is playing and getting 'caught' on the scratching post.

Easy. Go mention this to the vet, or if you think it's going to be a bit costly you can buy a spay from the pet shop. It is supposed to mock the scent of a mother cat/dominant cat so wherever you spray the stuff she simply will not scratch that area or pee in that area also. Good Luck!

I really do not know the answer. At the last count we had nine cats. They all insist at having a go at the furniture. I shout at them and they stop, but will go back to it later. It's just a thing about cats. You have to live with it.
PS Catnip does sound like a good idea.

I had the same problem when my cat was younger, i bought this spray from the pet shop that was supposed help and only the cat could smell, trust me its disgusting, it was vile , try some pepper it does actually work, thankfully she soon stopped after she was about 1yr, trying playing with her and draw her attention to the scratch posts,

Declawing is cruel full stop. Try taking her to the scratching post every time she tries to scratch on something you don't want her to. Use a negative voice, pick her up, deliver her to the scratching post, (even take her paws in your hands and make a scratching motion on the post) and when she scratches it, use a positive praising voice. Also praise her whenever you see her using the scratching post on her own. Cats want to please their "pets" so perhaps positively reinforcing desired behaviour will help.

your cat probably needs a scratching post, in the wild they scratch to keep their nails sharp, so its an animal thing, so try giving your cat its on scratching post, might help,

Catnip is brilliant for making them like stuff, or you can get a lemoney based spray that they don't like much.
