definately not! I don't even want my 12 year old step daughter to have access to myspace.
Haven't you heard what kind of people lurk on that site???
Call me old fashioned but I don't think an 8 year old needs a computer at all!

No. I can understand wanting to use myspace to keep up to date with friends who have gone away to college/moved away/etc., but there is no reason for an 8-year old to be on it, in my opinion. You can see on the news all the problems myspace is creating. An 8-year old (any 8-year old, no matter how smart) does not have the life experience and common sense needed to stay safe. And that is the main reason why: it really is not safe.

NO- too many creepy old perverted guys are stalking kids on the internet. because some 50 year old guy can say he's 10 and try to make friends with some kid that's really 10. that's just weird. and haven't you seen like Dateline or 20/20 when they talk about how older men meet much younger girls on the internet and then the girls end up getting kidnapped, raped, and all this other bad stuff?
i'm 22 and i don't even have myspace. it's stupid and overrated any way.

Not many grown-up understand what myspace really is. All of you adults can make a myspace for yourself, and you will still never understand why kids like it so much. It's true, an 8 year-old should NOT have one. There are some aspects of it that are indeed, NOT ok for 8 year-olds. Kids that are 12-maybe 16 use myspace as a way to talk to their friends. Just because some stupid kids decide to put anything and everything about them on there, does not mean that all kids are that stupid. Take me, for exapmple. I have a myspace, and i love it. I get to make my page very pretty, put pictures on it, and talk to my friends. thats really waht all kids want to do...talk to their friends. maybe when your child gets a little bit older, he/she may get one...but as of that age, it's not such a good idea. There is an option on there to where you can make it private. That means only people who YOU PERSONALLY ACCEPT as your friend can view the things on your page. There are many ways to make myspace safe...people just don't take the procausions. All they have to do is not talk to strangers..and if they do talk to people, make ABSOLUTE sure that you know the person and it is safe to talk to them. Everyone thinks myspace is just a place for 30 year olds to sy they are 13 and rape people, but that is not true. it is very easy to avoid people like that, but the unfortunet people who chose to take the risk didn't, and they suffered the consiquense. Myspace is safe as long as you are safe while using it. But as for you child, tell them that they are not old enough and maybe when they are 12 or 13.

no way myspace is really not for kids i mean come on what business does an 8 years old kid have on myspace i think myspace is probley for highskool kids and college people other then that i dont think he needs one come on there might be people on myspace that are probley older then they say they are just trying to get a hold of young kids i dont think you should let him just watch the news and that show to catch a predator and you will see why there is alot of pervets out there and im sure you dont want your child exposed to that

What is your child doing on Myspace? It's not really a good idea for anyone to have a Myspace. Be careful.

I wouldnt I have a friend whos sister was 15 had a myspace page and she went to go meet a guy she met off and has been missing nearly a year, there are a ton of creeps on there.

NO! There are no (or very few, inadequate) filters on these chat and blog sites. Anything can be said in text, and any sort of picture can be posted. Chances are very, very high that your 8 year old will be exposed to VERY adult content. It's not a good place for your child to spend time.
If your child is interested in a safe, fun place to "hang out" on the internet, try Neopets.com. It is a closely monitored, child-friendly site. There is still some adult content that gets through (people are deucedly clever), but you really have to be looking for it. And if you sign your child up for a minor account, s/he won't be able to use the chat boards or neomail anyway.

NO!!! Myspace is a place for teens at least..he will get trampled on...y would he want one anyways? he's 8 he wouldn't understand half the things on there and would end up with chicks in their 20's sending him invites to porn shows... No way...besides theres an age limit on myspace. and theres a reason for that

No, I don't even like my 16 year old brother to have one, my mom and dad keep tab on it because it is for 1, a stupid "get to know" site, and it is also dangerous for minors. Not only that, your computer is more prone to viruses, because of myspace, my brothers computer totally crashed, people sneak in viruses through that site. So NO! Your 8 year old is just to young.
