Carpet tiles that were popular in the 60's and early 70's have made a large comeback lately. With new modern fibres and color choices they are a great choice for high traffic and high activity rooms. The ability to replace one square if it gets damaged keeps your room looking fresh and neat. Try getting two different colors and making a checkerboard pattern. Lots of fun. You can also get about five or six different colors (all in the same tone or family of shades) and make your own artwork. Also try bordering a room in one color then having the field (center section) in a random or repeating pattern. The colors and yarn styles are almost endless for creating something vibrant and interesting. There is simply no end to your ability to create a unique and individual custom look.

I guess sometimes it depends on the age of your child. I was going to say carpet tiles for little ones but I think any age, they would be useful - mainly as long as you have afew boxes of spare - if any thing spills like 'accidents' when they are potty training, paints when they're school age and ink nail varnish, red wine (!) etc you can just lift the effected tile(s) and replace. Personally I think lamindate floors are a lot better because they're easy to brush up and mop and are hell of a lot better at a being allergy friendly. Hope this helps.

To some extent it depends on the age off the child. For babies/early toddlers I fitted a nice soft carpet, It's nice to play and crawl on for both child and parent. As they got older I used tiles. You can get quite soft ones, and the advantage is you can replace them when they become to messy. If you use tiles don't forget the double sided tape to hold them down.

Neither one.....the child "will" spill all sorts of stuff on it. The best bet would be to get an area rug that you can throw out after repeated spills and replace with a new one. The carpet or tiles will not be so easy to replace.

Carpet tiles are much easier to replace 1,2 or even 6 rather thana whole roon full of carpeting!!! They can also be a lot more fun to play with,Like a cool pattern, tic, tac, toe, 2 tone etc....

If you must then choose carpet tiles they can be lifted and cleaned when grubby. And you can make fun patterns with them. Though best of all is wooden flooring. Laid properly it can look terrific, warm and hygenic. And it can either be matt varnished or painted whatever colour you like.

Oh definitely carpet. Tiles are cheap and horrid and easily to trip up on. Also easy for horrid gnomes to hide under and jump out on you when you are trying to collect precious teeth. Yuk.

Tiles, and buy some spare ones, if there's an accident you can replace them 1 by 1.
