I thank God when bad things happen. that is when i am growing closest to him, because i have to reach out to him for his strength and wisdom. But it feels good to have a good song touch your heart also. just remember to thank him always, he is always doing what is best, even when it hurts.

Oh yes, all the songs you mentioned draw me closer to God. There have been times when God used Christian songs on the radio (even ones I didn't particularly like)to speak to me and give me hope in my dark times. He occationally will use secular music to encourage me, too.
Point of Grace really lifts my spirits as well as the Songs for Worship and Wow Worship cd collections.
Music is powerful, no doubt and God is even more powerful. :)

Oh my goodness yes, to all the songs you listed above, especially Breathe!! And I really love Nicolle Nordeman's "Woven and Spun" cd. Every single song on that cd spoke to my heart. God is sooooooo awesome how He ministers to us through music!!

The only good Christian music is old Christian music. Older hymns, the Messiah... new-age sh*t like "Open the Eyes of My Heart" and anything by any Christian rock group all suck.

I particularly hate "Open the Eyes of My Heart". I used to be Christian, and even then I felt like the new stuff was stupid. I ended up at a few Christian concert-things (and hated them all x.x), but "Open the Eyes of My Heart" seemed to go on for hours, and I would be retching by the end. Especially when they get to the end and just sing, "Holy, Holy, Holy" for fifteen minutes.

Handel ftw.
