I have a perscription for oxycodone because of wisdom tooth pain (im going in on wednesday to get it yanked) I dont want to bug my dentist with this question unless necessary. (so I didn't take any pm this weekend) If i dont have to take any pain pills that night - would it be ok to take the pm? If I woke up in pain would it still be ok to take the pain pills? thanks.

You definately don't want to mix them because they both contain acetaminophen and taking too much acetaminophen is hard on your liver. Also, oxycodone tends to have sedative effects for many people so it may be dangerous to take the pain pills if there is still tylenol pm in your system. You should definately talk to your dentist about how long you need to wait between taking each medication and whether or not you should take the tylenol pm at all while you are taking the oxycodone.

You can take them both as long as you wait about 3 hours in between each one. If you DONT take the Oxy's, you CAN take the PM that night...if you wake up a couple hours later, take an OXY, you will be fine. Or, call the closest pharmacy and ask the pharmacist. They always tell you...

Mixing drugs can have a deadly result. Even prescription drugs can cause death. I would take the time to "bug" my dentist and not try to get a so-so answer here. Unless someone is a Doctor or pharmacist who gives you advice I would be cautious in accepting it at face value. I almost left this world by mixing prescription drugs once. It simply is too dangerous to be flip about it. Please, call your dentist. For what he/she charges it should be more than fine to call them and bug them.
