I took my last pill on Saturday (ortho-cyclen)...so I'm wondering will I have a longer period if I don't take the pill on Sunday like I have for the past 10 years? If so, how long will it last? A month? Few days? Just curious what the average is since I know everyone's bodies are different. Thanks ladies!

my period was the same. as you are now older your cycle usually is not as long as it once was anyways. I have a few days of heavy maybe 2 then just a few more days of light, 5 days total. just kinda weird not knowing exactly what day you will start as if you are like me when on the pill you knew what day after stopping you would start. not being on the pill kinda takes you back to those first years of guess work, but listen to your body, mood swings, water retention, etc. cravings, your getting close.

When I was on the pill my periods were SO light and lasted about 3 days. I got away with just a pantyliner. NOW......3 years after not being on the pill anymore, my period is SO heavy (I'm 37 by the way) and it lasts anywhere from 4 to 6 days. I have to use Tampax Supers or Super Plus and change them every 2 hours the first two days.

I don't think it was heavy right after I stopped taking the pill but soon afterwards since it takes a few months for all of the hormones to get out of your body.

It's hell being a woman!

Well I was on the pill for only a year (ortho-tryc-lo) I went off and didn't get my period for two months, then when I got it back it wasn't the same as it used to be. Before the pill it lasted like 7days and was heavy for about 4-5 and I always got horrible cramps and breast tenderness and knew a week before I was going to get it, then on the pill it was shorter lighter and no cramps and even now after being off for 7 months i never get cramps and breast tenderness but it does last longer, so everyone is different and you'll just have to wait and see!

just like the girl before me said, It will go back to normal for "your" body. It may be a bit heavier and longer by a couple days. But if you bleed more than 2 weeks. Definitely call or doctor. Also be aware that you might not get your next period when you are expecting it. I know when I went off the patch I got my period 2 weeks late and it was god awful heavy. But then the next month it returned to a normal 5 day moderate flow type period.

When you come off of the pill, your peorid will go back to 'normal' how it was before you ever got on the pill. I was on the patch for a few years, then came off of it because hubby and I were trying to have a baby and after about 2 months it went back to the same ol' normal way it was before I ever started the patch.
