Catholics in the United States are obliged to abstain from the eating of meat on Ash Wednesday and on all Fridays during the season of Lent.
They are also obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and on Good Friday.
Self-imposed observance of fasting on all weekdays of Lent is strongly recommended. This is where people also give up chocolate, sarcasm, or something else for Lent.
With love in Christ.

the regulations YOU STATE were replaced. They became the regulations. We would now eat meat on all Fridays of the 12 months except in the course of the Fridays of Lent and Ash Wednesday. Meat is authorized on all different days of Lent. Fasting is now required only on Ash Wednesday and powerful Friday. it continues to be non-compulsory, or perhaps recommended, to prepare the former regulations as you pronounced.
