I met a guy a couple weeks ago and we had fooled around (no sex) twice, but we talked a lot too. We both got out of long-term relationships, etc. Anyway, he always thinks I'm messing with his mind, and he asked me "but do you think you can mess with mine?" I looked away and said "no" which isn't very convincing. Then he calls me and says that the problem is he can't trust me and he wants to be able to.

I ask him, since we're only friends, if he does this with everyone, including his guy acquaintances. And he said yes. I don't know what's going on.

He likes talking to me about emotions, and he thinks i'm always trying to mess with people's minds. I might try to mess with guys' minds, but it's an issue I don't want to talk about here. But why did he call me up to talk to me about trusting me for a friendship? Why does it even matter?

he may have been screwed over in his last relationship and really doesnt want to put himself in the same situation again. he probably really likes you and is trying to get a gauge on where he stands and if you guys are a possibility.

He's vulnerable and is trying to decide whether or not he should let you into his world. He wants to believe that you can at least be a good friend, if not more. He's feeling out the situation. Some people are choosier than others about who they let into their lives in any way, including the people they choose as friends.
