I would think anytime you are signing your life away and increasing your risk for being killed there is a very good cause for being nervous.
There are other ways to find adventure and be all you can be!

If you aren't scared hey good for you. If you are it's normal. A lot of people have those second thoughts before they get on the plane to go to basic training. Make sure that you 100% believe you are making the right choice for your life, if not you may need to be worried. And on your homosexual note, there are gays in the military. It is a don't ask don't tell policy. If you are worried about that maybe you shouldn't join. You should go to college and get some life experience and learn how to deal with others that are different from you. Then be an adult and join the military. But hey that's just my opinion....good luck.

Just chill out. In your life any time you make a decision you should feel a little anxiety. Even fear! But it's ok. If you feel that the military is right for you then go ahead. Turn that anxiety into a positive energy and drive on. Being a soldier has it's ups and downs. If you read and listen to the negativity it has it's down. The life of a soldier is portrayed as glorious. And it is. You are usually fighting for a just that most people don't comprehend. Be them soldiers or not, it will be your own experience and take on things in life. Good luck!

I don't know about you but I was in the ARMY and there's no "fags" there or how you put that. There is a don't ask don't tell policy tho,but anyways.. About you not being nervous or anxious. To tell you the truth I wasn't when I enlisted I was more excited than anything else. but, I worked my butt off to make myself better. Don't go into the ARMY thinking that's it's going to be easy, because Alot of the times it can be mentally exhausting and physcially too. Denpeding on what MOS you picked. But, do remember this noone is going to make you better at your Job,PT or anything that is up to you. Congradualtions on joining and I hope you have fun and keep your possibilites open. Take care

Don't be scared, the Army is a great choice in life. The only thing to be afraid of is the food. Everything else will go along smoothly as long as you do as you're told. Pay attention to what the Drill Sergeants say and try to stay out of trouble. Never volunteer for anything and be a team player. Good luck.

You need to think of these things before joining... Being in the military, there is nothing worse then hearing someone say "I didnt sign up for this, i just wanted the college money." Or some other crap like that, you have to realize, especially after 9/11 you WILL be deployed some where in the world, and there is the chance to can be killed. If you can live with that, then sign up, but dont act like a deployment is a hugh shock and it is that unexpected.

Do you have what it takes to be in the Army? All it takes is one life. Frankly, not everyone gets nervous. Maybe those who do NOT volunteer will get nervous.. But its that's what you wanna do and your not nervous about it., then its all cool. Kick some *** soilder.

Sure, most of can't believe we dumb enough to be there, so we think we are dreaming. Just joking, it is what we are raised to be scared of or not scared of. You'll find out when or what to be scared. Good luck to you! God Bless you and the Southern People.
