No, you need the shampoo to actually clean it. Conditioner makes it all nice and soft but it doesn't actually clean it. So if you wash it with conditioner only, it'd still be greasy, even more so since you put more conditioner in it before it was clean.
It's like washing your hands and putting lotion on after. Lotion is no substitute for washing your hands. They go together. :)

No! In fact, a lot of those shampoo + conditioner products aren't that great at cleaning the hair either. Shampoo and condition separately with products made for your hair type.

A conditioner does not wash your hair. It has no cleaning agent in it like shampoo. It is made to "condition" your hair by makin it more soft and/or manageable. So yea, your hair may be wet, and it may have a white substance in it, but naw, that aint "washing" it at all.

Some people with very long hair wash their hair with just conditioner, because it is geantler on the hair, if you want more information try looking on the long hair section of the Hair talk Boards http://talk.hairboutique.com/ , it's often abreviated to Co washing, or try googling conditioner only washing.

It actually depends on what type of hair you have. If you have natural (minus chemicals) African-American hair it is good to condition wash your hair because coily hair tends to dry out easier. I would recommend that someone with dry hair that shampoos every day conditioner wash every other day.

A conditioner will not wash your hair - it contains no cleansing agents. If you were do attempt to "wash" your hair with conditioner it would only leave your hair limp and oily and oily hair only attracts dirt, dust, ect.

you should use both, shampoo first, then condition. Using conditioner on the top of your scalp, at the roots, can cause you hair to look majorly oily.
