We lived with Heavenly Father as spirit children long before we ever came to earth. We wanted to become more like Heavenly Father who has an immortal physical body. God made a plan where we could each gain a mortal body and learn from the experience of this life. The war in heaven was whether we would follow Christ (who gives God the glory) or Lucifer who wanted to make us all into automatons and keep the glory for himself. (There's a major flaw there in the first place, besides his selfishness. We couldn't become like God if we didn't have freedom to learn from our own mistakes).
This life is the time for us to prepare to meet God.
Thanks to the atonement of Jesus Christ, we have hope come Judgement Day, when our spirits and bodies will be reunited again - we'll have an immortal body like our Heavenly Father. Meanwhile, if we have chosen to follow Christ, we will be prepared for what Heavenly Father desires to give to us. Eternal life is so much more than living forever.

Why did we make god?

That is quite an assumption you have made there. Not one based on any evidence whatsoever. Maybe fairies made you. Maybe another god like thor or zeus made you. why not? surely that is no more ridiculous. Or why not think about another more logical answer rather that relying on myths.

God created us so that we worship Him. That is the sole purpose of our creation. God says in Quran:

“ And I (Allah) created not the jinn and mankind except that they worship Me (Alone)”(Quran 50:56).

From the Baltimore Catechism:
God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him for ever in heaven.

Doesn't get much simpler than that. =^)
