YES, it is too soon. Kittens learn a great deal about being a cat (bite inhibition, litter box habits, body language, etc.) between the ages of five and eight weeks. To learn properly, they need to learn from their mom and littermates. Just because they can eat on their own does not mean they are ready to be separated. Wait until they are at least eight weeks old.

Yes they arent supposed to leave their mother until after 8 weeks but if something happened to the mother then yes you need to see if anyone has a female cat that will adopt maybe one or two of the kittens

Yes most likely. You don't know how the new owners will be, and most people don't have time or the knowledge to deal with a kitten that young. I would say wait a few more weeks.

extermely soon and extremely cruel.
kittens and puppies need their momma for at least 3 months. 4 months best. why?
1st: they need to suckle on their momma's breast milk. any other food, can cause upset stomach and can weaken their immune sistem, thus getting sicker in life

2nd: they still need to be socialized by their mamma and their other litter mates. their mamma acctually scolds them if they bite, pee or do bad stuff, so they acctually learn much better from mamma then we humans can teach them at such an early age

of course, man is all for profit. they know that animals look cutest when they are small. and most people will buy animals the smaller they are. but if you're gonna do that, know that you're doing the animal a disfavor.

6 weeks is the old standard. Now it's 8 weeks at a minimum. Most breeders recommend anywhere from 9-14 weeks. They need the time with their mom and littermates to be secure, in optimum health, and learn proper social behaviors.

Usually six weeks is the right time-as long as they are lapping milk from a saucer.
