I rescued a tiny TINY kitty today with a damaged paw. He's settling in really well - he's had kitty milk and kitty food, he's playing with a blanket and he's just started purring loudly. He's SO cute it's not funny! Actually I haven't checked if it's a boy or a girl, but it mews like a boy cat.
Any suggestions please? He's kind of grey and black and fluffy with the biggest little greeny grey eyes - looks just like a chocolate box kitty!

According to cat zodiac cats born in September and October (if the kitty is as tiny as you say he is I'm guessing this is the case) are supposedly keepers of Harmony and bringers of comfort. I'm not sure how much of it it's truth but just in case there is something to it here are my first suggestions - Harmony, Balance, Diplomat (by the way - it would have been easier i you made sure as to the gender of the kitty - it can be awfully embarrassing for a cat to be mistaken for something he is not)
And of course every cat possesses a feline character and there is something mythical about the cats so you might find one of the following names suiting: Adonis, Hermes, Odis (he certainly got to his (new) home after wandering a bit and some adventures), Oedipus (due to the paw misfortune) - and a different gender option - Diana, Bastet
And finally judging by his looks alone (or at least what I know about it from your description): Pulchrius, Mist, Shadow, Emerald
Good luck for both of you!

I think you have answered your own question, with all your reference to Kitty! We rescued a three month old tom cat who was already answering to the name, so for 12 wonderfully happy years, he was called Kitty.
Good luck with his poorly paw.

Chocolate Box sounds like a good cat name to me for either gender. I'm all about descriptive names for animals. Once I had DandyLion for a gray and brown tabby who had bright orange patches on his nose, ears and belly and TigerLilly for a fuzzy orange kitty. Now, I have Panda for a black and white cat and Pacer for his look-a-like brother who has a heart murmur (named after my boyfriend's pacemaker, since they both have heart issues). My sister's burnt-orange kitty was named Cinnamon.

Bearing in mind his/her colouring, what about "Bandit"? (as in Smokey and the Bandit - a film in 1977 with Burt Reynolds as the star for you youngsters out there who haven't heard of it). You never know what he has been up to.

Hope the vet has looked at his paw - which reminds me - A 3 legged dog walks into a bar in Laramie in the wild west , the piano stops, everybody goes quiet and looks at him. He draws his revolver and says (in a wild west drawl) "I'm looking for the man that shot my paw!"

Ok, Ok, well I thought it was funny!

That is so cute - well done on rescuing him. I always think people's names are really funny on cats - something like Jonathon. Or for a more traditional slant on things, Muffin is just the cutest name ever.
