I live in the northern hemisphere, so the natural rotation of liquid down a hole (like your sink or toilet) is clockwise. You can get it to go down rotating the opposite direction, but you have to provide an impetuous force to get it to turn that way.

Neither - it goes straight down. I assume it depends how the bowl/rim and other gubbins are designed. There's probably some toilet techno-person who understands the design of such important items.

In theory it could rotate one way or the other, but it certainly doesn't go side to side. It goes straight down...
