No one really knows, one way or the other, but there was a big scare about it in the '70's and recently. I'd avoid aluminum cookware, just because it's not good to have too many metals like that in your system. Also, avoid Teflon...there may be problems with that if you use it a lot. Stainless steel or copper are best for cookware, IMO.

Experts.com wrote: "Aluminum has been linked to Alzeimer's because autoposied brain tissue showed a higher concentration than normal brain tissue. Current research seems to link Alzeimer's patient with a genetic predisposition to accumulating aluminum but it's unsure if Alzeimer's causes the brain tissues to absorb more or if aluminum causes Alzeimer's. Most research that I read points to the former rather than the latter."

According to another site: "Reporting in the journal Neurology in 1996, researchers from the University of Toronto found an astounding 250% increased risk of Alzheimer's disease in

individuals drinking municipal water high in aluminum for a 10 or more year period of time. Alzheimer's risk increased by 70% in those exposed to municipal drinking water containing only minimally increased amounts of aluminum water consumed by an alarming 19% of the Ontario population." I'd say it's impossible to draw any final conclusions, given how many contradictory reports and studies there are, at this point.

No one knows for sure. There have been published links between aluminum and alzheimers. (see AMA journal articles)However, there is no scientific basis that aluminum cookware is source of aluminum and also, people with high aluminum serum equivalent numbers are not necessarily susceptible to the disease. It's not something I would worry about unless I had a strong family history of the disease.
