You could charge more than $5 a dog! If I had a dog and needed him walked, I'd pay $5-10 a day to have him taken out for a nice walk in the afternoons - so you might think of charging at least $10-$20 @ week.

You could have an "introductory offer" of five dollars a week. Tell people that after the first week, the price will be $2 per walk. That way, they will try the service and probably like it.

Or you can charge certain people $5 a week if they will serve as a reference for prospective customers to call and ask if you do a good job.

Don't charge too little, because cheapskates are hard to deal with.

That is cheap for a dog walker.
Keep in mind that if you do not have insurance or are not bonded people may not want to give you keys to thier homes.
What happens if one oft he dogs gets hurt or bites someone when you are walking it? How are you going to be able to handle it.
Dog walking is a great job but you may need to have some experience with dogs before people will let you walk thier pets alone.
That is why it costs so much to have a dog walked by someone if they are bonded and insured and have taken classes in how to handle dogs you are paying for thier experience.
If you are only doing this around your neighborhood with dogs you know and can handle it should be fine and I would easily pay that or maybe a little more for some to walk mine.

Frankly, I think you can charge $5 a day instead of $5 a week. Of course, it all depends on the area in which you live, as well, but $5 a week is still pretty cheap for daily walks.

Don't sell yourself short. Even a babysitter gets at least much much an hour.

Good luck to you :-)

$5.00 A WEEK? You're selling yourself cheap! Do you know that you not only have to walk the dog, you also have to do the pooper scooping deal. If you walk 4-5 dogs a week, do you know how much do do you will be picking up? No honey!----$5.00 is too cheap! Ask for at least $20 and let them talk you down to 15$. Don't go for the oakie doak! This is a business!

$5.00 a week for 5 days a week? Charge more!
Id pay for a dog walking service ..ther are times I just dont feel like going out.

Id charge 2.50-5.00 PER walk.
$25.00 a week per client. 5 clients. $125.00 a week you can charge the lower end $2.50 to seniors and handicapped folks who are on fixed income.

Have a small contract about inclimate weather and stuff too. Will you walk in the rain or will you make up the missed walk on the weekends?

I think people would be willing to pay more than that!

Walking the dog is a huge chore! I bet you could get $20/week easily if you walked someone's dog every weekday afternoon.

How long would you walk the dog for? For the rate you're charging, I wouldn't walk the dog for more than 30 minutes each time. If you walk the dog 1 hr each time, then charge $40/week.

For every day of the week for 5 bucks? Sure, I would pay someone to do that as long as they knew about the pet, got to know it for about a week before you started your services to make sure you could handle the dog especially if you are doing this for all breeds and sizes of dogs. Many dogs are very strong and can pull you over in a heartbeat so if you can handle this type of dog, sure, I would pay you.

Sure, price is reasonable enough.
I had an errand service one time and walked a friends dog about 3 times during the week and she paid me $30 even though I didn't want to charge her (since she was a friend). If you are driving any distance be sure to cover your gas $$$

I would pay $100 a week I have 2 by the way. So $5 will definitely get you some customers. I'm too busy sometimes to walk them everyday.
