I would really like to know the logic behind the soul. I thought that everyone knew that all our cognitive functions and thoughts came from our brain. It turns out, some people believe some magical thing called the soul has something to do with making us us. I want to know what the soul is believed to do. Where is the soul located? Is it just a coincidence that people believe that it's in the head (where our brain happens to be)? If someone is in an accident and part of their brain is damaged, they sometimes become a different person. Is their soul damaged too? If the soul is entirely magical and in no way physical, wouldn't science be able to detect which part of us it influences, since that part wouldn't be attributed to anything physical part of us?

I share your questions about just what the soul is and what it does. Not being convinced by any religious concept I've been exposed to, I think the soul is just a symbol. I don't think that it is physically real, but it is supposed to symbolize the deepest and most essential parts of us. You could say that the soul is the personality factors that make every person singularly unique. Personally, I don't really use the word "soul" in my regular vocabulary because I know that most people assign it some type of religious or magical meaning that I don't wish to convey.

Well it's all a matter of what you choose to believe. Chrisitians choose to live by faith and accept what the bible teaches. Man consists of 3 parts. Body, spirit, soul. THe body must have life, breath. That is the spirit. The spirit is the breath of God. Just as God breathed in Adam & gave him life, his breath is what gives everything life today. The conscious of the man creates the soul. However, you can't have a soul without a spirit and a body.

You are the soul my friend. You the soul have a body and this body is just a vehicle to carry you through life.
The reason science can not find the soul is because its beyond physical and material realms, but its there alright.
If you record your voice on a CD, you can play it and hear your voice, but can you see the actual words, no but its there. Just something to think about.

Pretty clever wording but i'm still going with the existence of the soul - just because I believe it to be true - no proof needed. It's called faith to some.
