Does this show people are more concerned with NOT going to hell than rather GOING to heaven? Is this indicative of the fear inherent to choosing a religion? Are people just more pessimistic and have imagined hell far more than heaven? What does the ratio mean.

It is more probable that you would receive more answer describing hell, since Jesus talked more about hell than he did about heaven.

A lot of heaven is going to be a surprise. Jesus has been preparing heaven for his bride (the church) for two thousand years, so if the Grand Canyon takes your breath away, which was created in a very short time after the flood, imagine what heaven will be like.

Jesus prepared a place just for you. You want to claim it?

Guilt that has been implanted so much on the brain rather than being happy and Free is the significant reason why Hell has been the most that gets a lot of inquiry than heaven.

since hell and heaven are both the creation of human imagination, it is probably true that we can imagine terrible places than wonderful ones.
maybe also, since heaven is the place where the good people go, it's a rather boring place, like it's population, while hell is the place where all the fun loving people go, so it is very exciting.

It depends. If you got 4 to 2 answers, it's not representative of anything. If you got 400 to 200 answers, then yes. I'd think it shows how people join religions for fear, not for an actual religious feeling.

EDIT: 19:9 is sadly not representative. I mean, I agree with your conclusion, but I would draw them from other life experiences, not from this particular survey.

It's because we don't want you to go to hell. That's why it's described in such detail. We're hoping you'll get the message.
Everyone knows Heaven is a great place without description. Now you need to know about hell.

I think people have always been motivated more by fear. Heaven is the promise of a place thats 'good' but there's nothing to show so avoiding punishment is an easier concept.

I know Dante's Inferno, for example, mirrors a long standing fascination with Hell and the ensuing suffering that is supposed to take place there. I do think the human is more interested in the negative and how to avoid it. Says something about people doesn't it?

No. more has been written in popular writing and shown on movies and TV about heaven then about hell. Thus are the people influenced.

I'm a Christian and I like this question. I find it thoughtful. The responses you got seem the indicate that everyone knows what they don't want but perhaps are afraid to imagine what is possible. Or maybe they don't think they are deserving.

There is a focus on fear in religious sects. It began with the early churches in England. People get so wrapped up in fear of not serving GOd that they forget the joys of serving him. God is Love. Pure love. There is great joy in love. He doesn't prevent us from living a full life. Everything he has said we should refrain from, has a completely logical reason. He loves us and is looking out for us. We must remember to share with others that God is LOVE, not fear.
