Yoy have the right idea but here is a better answer.
A los mayores se les muestra respecto al referirse hacia ello con "Usted" "Señor" Señora" "Digame"... El "tu" es para amigos y para aquellas personas que te han dejado llamarlos asi, y las cuales ya tienes muchas confiancia.
