Though uncommon, it is possible to drink too much water. When your kidneys are unable to excrete the excess water, the electrolyte (mineral) content of the blood is diluted, resulting in a condition called hyponatremia (low sodium levels in the blood). Endurance athletes — such as marathon runners — who drink large amounts of water are at higher risk of hyponatremia. In general, though, drinking too much water is rare in healthy adults who consume an average American diet.

a limit or a helthy limit??

There are variables such as diet and exercise. Hypernutremia is a big concern if you drink too much, but do not eat enough.

For inactive people, you need 8 cupsof water. That can include things other than water, but keep in mind that 8 cups of milk is only actually 6 cups of water and two cups of other things.

If you are aactive, you will need to increase it accordingly. When I was on active duty, I put down a gallon a day, but I was woring out two hours a day

Yes. People have died from water overdose. It's a serious issue, you can die from drinking too much water...

I'd say 20 large glasses of water should be maximum but just use common sense. If you are full, not thirsty... stop drinking!

You can keep drinking water until your piss turns colorless. I am not sure why you would want to but that is an easy quick test to see if you are there yet.

you can calculate it for your body by checking your sweat rate:

Sweat Rate = body weight pre-run – body weight post-run + fluid intake – urine volume / exercise time in hours)
