No. It is forbidden to lie in Islam and especially about such things!
A person should not lie about his religion just for the sake of getting people to convert, that is not the point.
A person should convert by his own will and his full knowledge of what he is going to be converting to. Lying would be pointless in this case since sooner or later the person would find out it is a lie and reject the religion even more then before since he was told it was a lie.
I personally belive that weather it is any religion Islam or Christianity or what so ever, the truth must be told.

"Thou shall NOT bear false witness"
What part of that says we can lie?
Catholics are not allowed to lie in any situation, Muslims are only allowed to lie in a few.
Again, if you want to really want to know what Catholics believe, it is simple, straight forward, and written in black and white, no room for weird translations by different people. It is nice.
Anyone can get a copy, it is called the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
I strongly suggest reading it before making blanket mis-representations about Catholics.
Peace!
PS you can get a copy of it here: (you don't even have to be Catholic)

Well, Id have to state that if any religion claims to be the one true religion, it is starting right off the bat with lies....
Im uncertain of Islam, as I havent been accosted by their missionaries. However, I have been accosted by Christain missionaries, and they do lie to get you to convert - just look at the concept of Hell. It doesnt exist inside the Bible, so it is all made up. Therefore, it is a lie made up to scare you into beelieving their viewpoint, and...hey wait a sec - THATS TERRORISM!

No it's not. And for the records, I don't try and convert anyone. Nor do any of the Christians I know. I think you're speaking about the fundamentalists.
