If you have seen a rerun of the movie, "The Exorcist", you will find how a Catholic church could be summoned to do the exorcism. However, not all priests have that kind of training or experience although all of them have the authority to learn and do so.
Now, with you as an Atheist, I do not believe you are possessed just because you do not agree with them. Some believers are afraid to get out of the box and look at their practices from the outsiders point of view because even their close relatives or friends will immediately ask them if they are possessed or something. Not unless you start acting like crazy spinning your head and floating up in the air and cursing everyone around you. Ignore them if you believe you are normal.

Wow! That's a tough question.
I think that a practicing Catholic has to believe that evil in the form of the devil really exists. That doesn't mean that exorcism is a common practice.
I suspect that exorcism was a rite that came about in the past when medicine had little or no understanding of mental health problems. When somone acted completely out of character it was easy to blame possesion as the culprit.
It's my understanding that even though the rite of exorcism is still on the books in the Church it is seldom practiced today.

Why the hell would you care about Catholics or Atheists being demonically possessed and exorcised when you're such a pathetically mean spirited wimp of a human who fires off ugly little answers to other's question just because you have no intellect or substance within you? Our group feels you're a waste of input here and hopes not to run into you again, since you can't even spell or write a decent sentence. Oh yeah, if you get pissed at our answer you can email us back a vengeful note but we won't care; that email address belongs to our friend whose away on vacation--go ahead, we dare you. P.S. Haven't you gotten laid lately? You're a bummer.

I was a practicing catholic for 18 yrs, not by choice. However;I have never seen them do an exorcism nor have I heard them talk about it. I do believe it was done more in ancient times but not so much so presently.

Catholics have been casting out demons ever since Jesus and the Apostles did it.
Modern psychology says that most of the people who had demons cast out of them were probably miraculously cured from schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. But their cures were still miracles.
The Catholic Church believes that real demonic possessions are rare but possible, so they keep a few exorcists around just in case.
With love in Christ.

No they don't really believe they believe it, and usually don't even think about it.
The only bodies that the devil possesses are atheist bodies. The devil seeks atheist bodies and possesses them, and the results can be horrid and nasty. I shudder at the thought.

abaddon of the abyss is really Satan of Hell
and roman catholics probably only obey them.
so truthfully they are devil worshippers. whether you like it or not. they claim to worship God but only cause its their evil code.
in times new roman font God when cut up says two things
1st God=CuTnucilI
2nd God=CuTodii
3rd strike a myth.
abcde=abc.de=a.IDc.de
so by allowing abaddon ie satan of hell to exist means you worship the devil ie roman dons
abaddon=a'bad'don
God the Father=God the Fat'her(r)
and most people around here hate germans. so be honest you hate God and love the devil.

It is scripturally based (the casting out of demons) so yes they believe as well as anyone else who believes the contents of the bible. I believe the word exorcism is their own though.

Exorcism does no good if the patient is willing to let the devil back in.
