People keep asking us to respect their religious views, regardless of what they are when at the same time they can call you and yours whatever they like. How is it that you can demand respect and be disrespectful at the same time?

Thanks Synickle. You just asked the most difficult spirituality question of all time. And I think I'm going to answer it? The nerve of me.
But I'm going to try. The best thing you can keep in your mind anytime you deal with human beings is that it is best to try to respect them. All of them, all the time. That is clearly next to impossible, but it is still best to try. That is the first phrasing of your question, so I see that you WANT to respect people. Keep up the good work. I know it isn't easy, but some of us really appreciate it and you are doing your part to make the world better.
And if you respect normal respectable people, it's good practice for getting through those tough times when you encounter people who are difficult to respect. Here, we're into the second phrasing of your question. We sometimes have to remind people that if they want respect, they have to give respect. That makes this a really good question, because people can look at it and ask themselves whether they are guilty of sometimes seeking the respect of others, but failing to give any respect. Then we move into the third phrasing and the point is driven home: some of the most disrespectful people in the world are those who loudly insist that the rest of us must give them respect.
You are doing great. I hope you will continue to see that giving is a sign of strength and that you will continue to grow stronger.

Funny how that happens. I had a 'good christian woman' stalking me last night on here, with childish insults and what seemed to be somekind of over inflated ego. This wasn't the first time that I have been harrased by hateful Christians on here. And it's not like I answer the Q's that are addressed to them. And they wonder where cancer comes from! Hmmm...
Blessed Be...

I'm agnostic -- so have no interest in the specifics of the question.

However, the general question is more interesting. Is everyone worthy of respect? I think not. At the end of WWII, Eisenhower showed no respect to the generals who surrendered. Did that mean he wasn't worthy of their respect?

Isn't that the way everyone is? You want everyone to respect you, don't you. It's just the way of the world...it's called personal opinion.
