I've been thinking about getting one of those leg rest pillows, and they cost from $40 to $90. I'm young (early 20's), and I already have a couple of both varicose and spider veins (it runs in the family), and my legs ache a lot. I'm not overweight, and I don't stand for long periods of time. I've tried sleeping with just regular pillows under my feet/legs, but it's uncomfortable and my feet fall off. Should I get on of those leg rests? Does anyone use one and it's helping? If you do, is it worth it, and any recommendations on the brand and type? Anything else I can do to prevent leg pain/veins (not treat)?

Wear support hose. The problem with varicose veins is that the body is having difficulty getting blood back from the legs to the heart. Blood pools in the legs, causing a achy feeling, and at worse case, causing blood clots. Support hose helps a lot. Also, prop your feet up whenever you get the chance. It's easier for your body to get blood back from your legs when they are elevated. I don't know about elevated leg rest pillows, though. I've never used them.
Hope this helps!
