I love the Masters because it kicks off the season's majors. I love watching the same course, year-in, year-out. But the Open is very big too.

Good question. I love watching the Masters, and of course the Augusta National Golf Course is a familiar site. Fans know all the holes.

On the other hand, I enjoy seeing the different courses which the U. S. Open is played on, both the older ones like Brookline or Winged Foot, and the newer Bethpage Black.

The Masters has more international players, but many of them are never really in contention. The top international players are always at both events. I'd probably have to say that the Masters is the bigger golf "event," but the U. S. Open is probably the better tournament.

P.S. I like the British Open -- The Open Championship -- better than either.

The Masters, has the prestige and is my favorite.
It's history based on the Bobby Jones invitational was to gather only the very best golfers in the world.
The Course is unique and a true test of golf from tee to green. It adds watching the same course each year and know a little about how it needs to be played.
The beauty of Augusta in Spring is unmatched.
The players obviously regard the Master's as the very best, they all want that Green jacket.
The US Open might be the tougher test of golf but that does not in itself make it a better event. US Open greens on the other hand are seldom close to being as good or as interesting as Augusta.
Take the Masters it is the BEST!

The Masters seems to be more of a reflection on tradition. While Augusta National has shared some of the selection criteria they use with the public, playing in the Masters is by invitation only and they can decide to invite or not invite whomever they choose. Its champions are champions of Augusta National.

The Open seems to be becoming more of a commercial endeavor but, all of the players earn their way in and it is ultimately played by the best golfers in the world and is more of a reflection of the sport as it exists currently. It's champions belong to the world.

I like Augusta the best and would choose to play its course before any others but, in my dreams, I would be prouder having won the U.S. Open, the Open, or the PGA.
