No, that is not my experience. Many if not most of the geneology people i know are not very religious. However I have noticed that older people tend to become more interested in geneology. Older people also tend to be more religious. In my experience.

Sorry I can't give you a useful answer to your hypothesis unless you state it clearly. What do you think the connection is? What kind of religion? Whose genealogy? Define strong interest. That sort of thing.

Why would they? Religion and genealogy are not related. Except for, like AurouraDawn said, the Mormons, who baptise dead Jews. Whats with that?

I am a genealogist and an Agnostic. I am interested in religion as a sociological condition but not as in believing for myself. For me genealogy has to do with my personal history and has no cross over to my Agnostic beliefs.

I'm not sure what the connection between the history of my family and religion would be. I do not have a strong interest in religion.

There are group like the sons of the American revolution or the Mayflower descendants. These groups not not religious. The only group that makes it religious are the Mormons... Jim

Only if you are Mormon. No other religion that I know of baptises the dead. This is why they do it. And I know first hand.
