First off, calm down! I agree with you that people are having sex way too soon. No only are there health issues to consider (pregnancy, diseases, etc.), there are also emotional issues. If you were to ask most women over the age of thirty if they would have waited before having sex, I'm willing to bet that 90% of them would have.
All adults have a shared responsibility to set examples and make sure their kids know what's really up with teens being sexually active.
I will say this: the decision of WHEN to become sexually active is a very personal one. And, yes, even in the "good old days" teens were having sex before marriage. What's changed is our attitude about it. My grandmother, who is 91, had sex before marriage, so don't believe that the "good old days" were always good. If one makes the decision to have sex, then it should at least be an informed one. While I wish that teens would wait, I'd rather that they be smart about it if they choose to engage.
Everyone has a different opinion. I appreciate that you've taken the stand that you have, and hope you continue to hold onto your beliefs. However, I think as you get older, you'll find that things aren't always black and white. Things that would seem to be simple sometimes aren't. Between the black and white is a wide area of gray. Please don't judge the world too harshly.

What do you mean by the good old days?? 1990? 1980? 1970? 1950? Think about it, no matter what, there will be bad things happening. You sound like the older people in the 1950s when Elvis was around and teenagers were kissing in public!! Or 1960-70s when there was free love and drugs! Or the 80s when MTV came out and older people really thought it was the end of the world! No matter what decade it is, it will look bad to someone, Yes, we will need to educate the youth, but they wont listen to their parents, they listen to the media. The best way to get their attention is from TV/ INternet/ Music...

I think the reason sex it such a problem is not just pointed in one place. Parent have a responsibility to monitor what their kids wear, how the are around, where the go, and to treat privacy as something earned by responsibility, not as a right. If you take a look at the trashy clothes sold to teens there is a big answer to why the teen pregnant and std rate is so high. Second, father need to teach their boys to respect women. Try to make them see that they would want a wife that's been passed around, so why be one passing around a woman. And most TV shows are soft porn.

I agree but really it's down to the parents to teach their children about the dangers of unprotected sex and to let them know it is meant to be special and mean something, now-a-days most ppl lose their virginity or have sex when they are drunkand they nearly always regret it. Also it is down to the individual to make their own choices b/c you can tell a child to not have sex till ure blue in the face but if they're gonna do it then they're gonna do it, there is nothing anyone can do about it unless you watch the child 24/7. Availability of contraception and better education in school would help the situation a lot.

the good old days never existed - the good old days are an image of what advertizing and media presented. like the "golden era of hollywood" where actors were perfect and life was all glamour....guess what your grandmother was giving head to some guy in his car when she was in highschool and teenagers were getting drunk too. Its true that sexualization of the media has become very strong and dominate but theres nothing wrong with that. Life you used to be the opposite (remember the puritans) ...anyways once you go to college your gonna be singing a whole new tune.
Oh yeah as far as STDs and pregnancies, the answer is condoms, but as long as their are adults who shun sex their kids are going to suffer from the lack of openess and sex education.

It's true...i sometimes feel that the people in the world have also modernized with the world...cuz if u really look at it...back in the days(years ago)the world wasn't this modern and people weren't this bad either.I can't say i blame technology or watever for the problems of today but this world is getting more worse and the people too as each day go by...if unbelievably wrong things are already happening now,it only leaves me to wonder wat will happen with the world of people in a couple of years from now.
It's all just sad!!!

Why cant things be like the good old days? You mean the days when your dad who was 20 something had sex with your mom who was in her teens? The good old days where the baby boomers came from? It's no worse today than it was then.....the only difference is that it's made more of a big deal today than it was then.

Will you marry me. I think you have the goat by the throat. A woman like you is hard to find these days.
I'm just kidding about the proposal. I have a wife that thinks just like you. I am so lucky.

Not everyone who has pre-marital sex ends up pregnant or with an STD. That is an ignorant thing to say.

We just have to be better examples. I think you are doing the right thing in waiting until you find Mr. Right. I have three young daughters and I hear you.
