I would call the state government agency where you live and ask them for help. If they can't get them for you, the IRS keeps copies of W-2's. I'm not sure how far back that they retain those. Their number is 1-800-829-1040. And you'll want the option to request a copy or transcript. Good luck!

The IRS will be no help. While they may have your W-2 federal information they don't track state taxes withheld. Why do you want to file a return? I think the SOL is no more than 10 years almost every where.

I don't know if you can file a return for 13 years ago. For Federal taxes, I think the limit is 3 years. Check with the State tax athority for assistance. If you need a copy of your federal return, see the link below.

Call the IRS 800-829-1040 ask for a complete accounting for that tax year, including all 1099, 1098 and w-2's reported under your social security number.

Call the state Division/Revenue Taxation for the every state that you worked in. Tell them you are trying to recreate your return for that year and ask them what information they have on file and can they give you a print off of what they have.

Call the employers that you worked for in 1993. Beg them (yes, KISS BUTT) to see if they can get copies out of their files.

DOCUMENT ALL CALLS, DATES AND TIMES, WHO YOU TALKED TO (irs employees give you their id #s)

When calling them find out their name first, and what city they are located. (IRS has different offices)

Some states will prepare a return for you if you do not prepare one. They figure that your income is 5 times what they get notified as earnings and assume no withholdings. Then they may bill you for it, at the last known address.

Oh, and some states will hold your drivers license, business licenses until you pay up.

When talking to the state ask them if there is a tax amnesty currently going on or is there one scheduled?
