Pertaining to a question I posed earlier about removing impacted wisdom teeth that haven’t emerged yet, one person told me (from their experience) that their dentist removed the teeth next to their wisdom teeth to make enough room.
I had no idea this was possible or even an option. Has anyone else done this? Is this often practiced in dentistry, or only in specific cases?

No extra teeth were removed. Only the teeth next to the wisdom teeth to allow room for the wisdom to emerge properly.

In certain cases, it is possible to remove the 12-year molars to allow the wisdom teeth to "replace" them in the arch. This would have to be done by age 15 or 16 and, again, it is not going to work for everyone. It's on a case-by-case basis.
Sometimes, you can do this for an upper wisdom tooth at a later age.

Probably only in specific cases. I had impacted wisdom teeth removed and there were no "extras" removed to make room. Plus, if the impacted tooth is removed. . .that is making room for the remaining molars, isn't it?

My wisdom teeth were impacted, and they did not remove any other teeth besides those ones. Maybe in the other persons case it had to be done, but not in mine.

My dentist never did that. I suppose on a person-to-person basis the Dentist determines if that might work or not. You could ask him. In the end.. you will probably just have to have them removed. Do all 4 at once if you can. It isn't that bad. Good Luck ! :)

I never had mine removed even though i hated them when i was younger, i didn't even wear a brace because at the time i thought it wasn't cool.
But as i got older, to my surprise they levelled up to make perfect teeth. they are my best teeth and the strongest.
But i suppose every case is different, take your dentists advice.
