Yes I do, closely.
Fist of all, I don't want her going over my minutes on our family plan and secondly I want to know who she is talking to.
On the internet, I also monitor because its so easy to fall into the traps that grown adults set for children on the internet.

My mother monitored my Internet and cell phone use. I never did anything "inappropriate" since I was 10. Now 21, I am more stable with my usages of items and of course have my own computer/cell now.

I think it was a pain of not having trust and getting blamed for things my other siblings did wrong on theirs. However, I do appreciate the direction she was trying to go with protecting and teaching responsibility.

The only computer with internet capabilities is in the living room and I watch every site, check every email sent and recieved. My daughter is 13 and she understands that I am only doing this for her safety and my sanity. She only carries her cell phone on school trips so that I know when to come and get her.
