I would recommend reading books by "Scott Cunningham".

You can also search for other Witches or Pagans in your area by doing a search on Meetup.com for any groups that may meet.

Another great reasource is Witchvox.com - The Witch's Voice. You can find local groups, meetings, stores, etc.

If you believe this to be your path or wish to explore it more, ignore the negativity of narrow minded people who believe that their belief system is the only way...that is NOT true.

If you are not sure yet if this is your path and you are searching, may i siggest that you check out the Unitarian Universalist family of churches at www.uua.org. UU's believe that each person is an individual and that their spiritual path is just as individual and so they teach and learn about many spiritual practices and paths.

Blessed Be

p.s. Saw that someone recommended "Spiral Dance" by Starhawk, "Circle Round" by her and two co-authors is also very good...it is supposed to be for raising children in the Goddess traditions, but i found it very useful as an adult, too.

The founders of the Wiccan faith were Gerald Gardner, Doreen Valiente, and Alex Sanders. Check out "High Magic's Aid", "Witchcraft Today", and "The Meaning of Witchcraft" by Gardner, "The Alex Sanders Lectures" by Sanders, and "Where Witchcraft Lives", "An ABC of Witchcraft", "Natural Magic", and "Witchcraft for Tomorrow" by Valiente. Also good are "A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham if you work alone, and "The Witches Bible Compleat" by Janet and Stewart Farrar if you work with a group.

You can find books at your local Barnes & Noble or Borders. Some libraries may have a selection, but the ones I've been to don't have anything.

Most people recommend Scott Cunningham's books for beginners. But I personally found his books difficult to understand, and I am not unintelligent by any means, but that's just me. The books I started out with were Silver Ravenwolf (most Wiccans cannot stand her, but to each their own) and Phyllis Currott.

An excellent resource before you go out and buy anything is http://www.mysticwicks.com which is a Pagan/Wiccan community that has lots of helpful info.

Don't listen to them. there are many books out there, go to borders they have the best selection and you can read them first. get they ones that feel right to you.
there are many good authors out there. it depends what strikes you. I have read Scott Cunningham, Janet and Stewart Farrar, Silver Ravenwolf, D.J.Conway, Starhawk, Grimassi, Cabot, McCoy, Buckland, Marlborough and several more I can't remember the authors but I have taken something away from all of them, some more then others,
there are yahoo and MSN groups that are teaching groups for people new to Wicca/Witchcraft. here's some places you can go for info.
to get started. and just remember follow your heart not anyone Else's. do what you feel it right for you

Make up you rown mind...I have read some about wicca, and it seems like a peaceful faith to me. Nothing wrong with taking care of the earth is there?

Witchvox.com will have local stores where you can go for classes.

Witchschool.com has free classes online for some "book learning"

Scott Cunningham is a FANTASTIC Author, I don't suggest Silver RavenWolf. (for reasons why: Just google $ilver RavenWolf. I studied under her, so I DO know what I'm talking about.)

Also, there's the Witches FAQ
