if three guys went into hotel and only one room left and it was $30.00 for room. each paid $10.00 and went to the room. then the guy at desk realized that it was only $25.00 for room and bellman took $5.00 to the three guys. each guy got $1.00 back and bellman kept $2.00. So each guy only paid $9.00 for the room a piece which is only $27.00 and the bellman took $2.00 which totals $29.00. where did the other dollar go?

They did not spend $30 for the room. They spent $25 for the room. Then they tipped the bellman $2. So they only spent $27. There is no missing dollar.

9 x 3 = 25 +2

I have no freakin idea. it should equal 30 in the end. 30/3=10 30-5=25 bellman-5 front-25
bellman-2 front-25 guys-3
it equals the right amount.
10-1=9*3=27 bellman-2 1 missing no where because the three left over are the three that they have 2+25=27 thats how much the hotel has

the guys in total paid 27 dollars. since they got there 3$ back and gave 2$ to the bellman. so the hotel only got 25$ they always had the money.

They paid $27 and $27 is including the money that bellman kept.
That means $25 for room and $2 that bellman has.
And they got $3 back. So it all adds up.

They thought wrong.... Desk has $25, each man has $1 making $3 total, plus $2 for bellman = $30, they had it the whole time

$ 25 for the room
$2 for the man
Therefore $27 for the hotel and $3 returned
So as a whole $30 spent!!

not again!
you're right. each guy paid 9 dollars which is $27.
the hotel only got $25
the bellman pocketed $2
27-2=25
You're looking at it from the wrong direction.
