Like any other Italian food, pizza varies from area to area. Pizza is originally from Naples, and is made different compared to let's say Rome or Milan. The crust is thinner, less tomato than compared to like Pizza Hut or Domino's, fresh ingredients and cooked in a wood burning oven, which changes the flavor totally, in a good way. If you ever make it to Milan, there is an excellent place called King, in the Porta Ticinese area. Their pizzas are HUGE, do not skimp on anything and are pretty reasonably priced.

I'm sure part of it has to do with the way it's baked, and the ingredients used. Did you ever notice how in Italy and Europe in general, they don't eat pizza with their hands, but with a fork!

Yes, much better quality ingredients, especially the cheese (in my opinion). Pizza from places like Pizza Hut has too much cheese, and it doesn't have flavor to it. Italian pizza: not so much cheese, but it's filled with strong, wonderful flavor!
