Many spyware scanners require at least windows 2000 to run, but there are exceptions
Spybot Search and Destroy is an excellent program for scanning for and removing spyware that run on win98. The resident modules can be a bit buggy, but the extra included tools such as startup manger are great! http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

The Yahoo toolbar has a pop-up blocker and antispyware. The latest version includes a free spyware scan by Norton.

SpyBot search and destroy is a good free utility. Do a search for SPYBOT and you should be able to find all the info you need. Check CNET.com for their recommendations, also majorgeeks.com
