We're in an Estuary, as oppose to an open sea, so we're actually taking about a riverbed.
It's not as deep as 'blue clear sea', it has a different marine life system and the ground level base is different crumbly texture - rather than a coral reef.
Although a lot of our waters have been given 'clean water' endorsements they'll never have that glamourous blue look, they simply don't have the right environment.

Water at Essex is laden with sediment and suspended particles; most of which are good for the sea; at areas such as the Caribbean they have none or few particles in the water; so it appears nice and clear. Essex is i believe made up of chalk and sediment, as wella s other rocks - these are soluble - disolve - into the water and cause it to become cloudy, here in sussex, where i am the waters are very cloudy due to the chalk of the South Downs.
Hope this helps
