I could just as easily say that our scientists are guided by God.

Why do you believe in prophecy when it's really not that hard to predict the future? If you're clever enough you can see patterns in human development.

Why do you believe in eye-witness accounts when there have been eye-witness accounts attesting to every religion?

How do you know if you've only been told one thing your entire life?

OMG, I just said that eye-witnesses accounts have been made for every religion. They can't all be right. (And during court trials, eye-witness accounts are the least reliable source of evidence because people have a habit of imagining their memories.)

The bible contains incredible internal consistencies, which seem impossible independent of holy spirit, since the bible was penned by more than 40 men over thousands of years.

However, the more significant proof of the bible's authenticity is its impressive perfect record of fulfilled prophecy.

You could indeed say whatever you want to but there has been no other piece of literature like the bible. written over a 1600 year span by many authors with the same underlying theme. Give one example of the evidence for your statement that prediction is easy. Does it match the 100% accuracy of the prophecies concerning Jesus? There were over 400 of them and they were fulfilled in the tiniest detail. Patterns in human development does not include the prediction of a man rising from the dead. Sorry, that one won't stand. It has nothing to do with how clever you are. Also you do not know that I have been told one thing all my life so that statement is pure conjecture.
It really has to do with whether you believe in God at all and if you think He is capable of preserving His word despite the attempts at having it discredited or destroyed by people such as yourself. He is, afterall, God, ya know.

Prophecy?
'Patterns' don't explain the mentionning of the conquerors name when Medo-Persia overthrew Babylon.
'Patterns' don't explain how the doors would be a key issue in the overthrow.
This is all 200 years in advance. Babylon wasn't even an empire yet, and here's a prophecy foretelling its downfall.
Isaiah 45:1-3.

There are NOT eye-witness accounts attesting to every religion.
With all due respect, you generalize to the extreme.
If you make a statement, back it up with 2 or 3 examples.

I believe that the authors of the Bible were guided by God, because so much of the Word of God has came to pass over the past years. But the fact is, as God's Word tells us, we must walk by faith, and not by sight. You can put your faith in whoever you desire to do so; but I choose to put my faith in God, and in God alone. You can say that a dog is guided by God as far as that goes; but it does not necessarily make it true just because you said it. And I am not just saying that the authors of the Bible were guided by God, but the Word of God tells me this as well. We read in 2 Peter 1:21: "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." Anyone can say that something is going to happen, but true prophecy will only come to pass if God is behind it. I believe in eye-witness accounts, because I have personally had eye-witness accounts of Jesus. I do not know exactly what it is that you have been told your entire life, but I can guarantee you that if it is not based upon the Word of God, then you best forget about it, and get into the Word of God. And if you do with an open mind, the Holy Spirit of God will reveal the truth to you.

It's called faith. Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." If you read the whole chapter, which is about faith, you'll see that faith isn't something that's measured. It's something that God gives you, when you become a believer, so that you can see the things of God, and understand His Word. I was raised a Catholic, believing what I was taught. When I grew up, I started reading the Bible for myself, and found that some things were different, than the way I was taught. I have now found that my perceptions of God didn't line up with the truth of His Word. God gave me the faith I needed to believe and receive what He wanted me to have. With that faith, I am more than content to stand on what the Bible says. I don't argue over my faith, just state what I know. It's not up to me to prove or defend God. He's a big God and can handle what's dished out to Him. I'm just the messenger. If people don't like the message, that's up to them. God's Word says for me to go out and tell. It's up to God after that. <*)))><

I pray your scientists and mine are guided by God.

I think it is hard to predict that a virgin shall be with child, Christ's burial will be with the rich, and he shall be hung between two thieves in his death.

You don't want to believe in eye-witness accounts? You just don't want to believe.

Well, I haven't been told "one thing" all my life, if you are refering to religious ideas, anyway. I do believe that fire is hot, water is wet, death follows life, Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

I love your question!

It's actually a simple answer...

The Holy Bible was written by many different men (different professions from farmers and ranchers to doctors), it was written in three different languages on three different continents. Spanning hundreds of years.

The Old Testament was written in Hebrew. The New Testament was written mostly in Greek and there was some Aramaic thrown in...

You will see that there are many threads woven throughout (from different books of the Bible) to form the tapestry of the Holy Bible.

The Holy Bible is the Word of God and yes, it was written by men inspired by God.

There is no other plausible explanation because of the complexity of the Scriptures as well as the prophesy. Scientist, as well as all other people, are guided by God when they surrender their lives to him. The devil can also act as a guide, but his guidance is a lie and results in disaster.

If you don't have faith, then all resonses to this for you will mean nothing. Therefore, why respond?

Besides, how do YOU know what is and is not guided by God? Perhaps the scientists were in fact divinely inspired!
