Doesn't really matter. The real question is how popular re-instating the draft will be. They will never get it pass because they know that too many people are against the idea of a draft. And if you want to state in office, you avoid too controversial of a topic that is too hot to hide.

There is no official draft in place currently but the advertising campaign currently being used by the armed forces in conjunction with the aggressive tactics of recruiters on high school campuses is , in my opinion, the next step to a sanctioned draft. It also stands to reason that after the Presidential election many active military personnel have pledged to resign and/or not re-enlist because they refuse to serve under a democratic commander in chief, that an official draft may be implemented because the United States cannot just pull out of those areas. I do not support the war but I have friends and family currently serving and some whom have lost their lives in this conflict and do not want their lives to have been lost in vain.

The liberals are lying to you. The draft will not be reinstated. They are simply trying to scare people of draft age and people with children of that age into voting for Democrats. The Republicans forced the issue and put it up to a vote just to get the issue off of the table. It failed miserably - as expected.

We have a volunteer army. Unless we are invaded by another country, it will stay that way.

NO, it does not present enough of an issue for a draft....

No, the constitution was established in 1776 and that's when it was needed. The congress has always used the constitution for raising armies.

No. Middle east may become that much of an issue if things keep escalating, but the draft should be reserved for defending the U.S., not to rebuild a country that we invaded in the first place.

Our government has the power to draft. Presently, there isn't a reason to do so (our military is meeting and surpassing its recruitment goals), and Congress would probably pull out before instituting a draft. It would be political suicide.

No. I don't know why people bring this up all the time. The draft is not coming back any time soon, if ever.

In regard to Iraq, it's not about a "war on terror" or "fighting for freedoms". It's REALLY all about THIS!...

Personally, I think the current pres has killed enough of our boys & girls. We need to get out & do something drastic that won't cost more of our children.
