what's a good way to let a guy know you are interested? or a good way to ask him out? especially if you are REALLY shy.

Being shy is a difficult thing to overcome. Do you talk with him at all? You could try a maneuver which shows interest but isn't quite a direct request for a date.
You "Hey, I'm going to X for lunch tomorrow, would you care to join me?"
If he says no, then you were going to lunch anyway so it isn't a painful rejection. You can try this with something like a quick drink (if both over 21) after work or a coffee (because you like to go the the coffee shop to read, but would enjoy some company instead!)

Tell him hi when you pass him, coment on what he is wearing, if you notice lil things about him ex: sports, magazines he may be reading etc...strike up a conversation on it!! Just always look your best!!

Why not just be honest...say that you would like to get to know him better...how about going out to lunch or something...why make it harder than it is?
