You can say it, but any respectable woman wouldn't go for the "friends with benefits" idea.

Many relationships with lovers or spouses fail because although they "love" each other, the don't actually "like" each other.

I've made this mistake many times, but now I am lover and best friend with my girlfriend, it's been the most successful, happy and loving relationship I've ever had.

Mutual respect is vital, and the intelligence to realise that women like different things to men, and vice versa, and to not sneer at each other for liking different things... so chaps, don't laugh at neighbours or eastenders, and girls, let him watch the football.. it's not a competition of importance. If he said that you don't love him because you don't cook steak every night you'd think him silly, and if she wants to go shopping for a few hours and not actually buy anything, so what? Girls don't look at shopping as an expedition to obtain supplies, but as a social event or as a form of chilling out, same as you with a lager and the footie.

So the bottom line is, if you want the relationship to actually mean anything, you can't say you're just sex partners.

Sure...honesty is best. If that's what they want too...there will be no problem. If they want to be "mates" then they can move on. At least you're honest up front.

By the way-some women like that better.

definitely.... you are only in this world once and if you feel that way you should, as they say, "grab the bull by the horns".... There was a girl I knew and we were friends though there was something more and I just left it. there isn't a day i dont think of her and i know i will never see her again. so dont ruin your life by keeping your feelings a secret. the truth shall set you free!!!

This question sounds really funny to Americans. We tend to think breed = mate. I get what your saying though. Most girls are going to think you have intimacy issues and avoid sex with you, even casually.

It is something that should be spoken about before you guys hit the sack. That way you won't have issues with a woman who thought you guys were heading in the relationship direction.

Just be safe and honest.

. . . I liked TanaciousD's Answer (mates = breed) - says it all, so just suggest you get down to breeding . . .
